South Chapel

Below are some photos of the area of the original South Chapel. Showing the remains of the shafts and capitals that would have held up the roof. It is thought that this might have been the Wardens lodgings at one time. There was access from this Chapel into the Church aisles and would have been closed with screens. The stone in the wall with the word ‘Resurgam’  which is Latin for ‘I shall rise again‘ carved into it, was placed there in 1673 for Prebendary Robins when he died,  to be close to his grave.
