In
the Chancel of Burwell Church, is this brass of John Lawrence, last Abbot of
Ramsey Abbey. One side shows him in full pontificals with mitre under an
elaborate canopy. This was made for his eventual tomb within the Abbey.

Unfortunately by the time of his death in 1542 he was no longer Abbot, so the brass figure was turned over and on the reverse side was carved his likeness in a surplice and amice, the habilments of a canon. As the picture shows.
