Abbey House looking from N.E.
This Aerial view shows the Abbey House, which it is thought stands more or less on the site of the original Abbey. Or at least part of it, because in the basement there is the remains of what is thought to be the Lady Chapel.
This Photo shows the Church, which was originally used as the Hospitium (Hospital and guest house) of the Abbey, until it became the parish Church in the early 12th Century.
You can see the Abbey green, to the right of the Church, with the 15th Century Gatehouse. The wall built with the remains of the Abbey stone forms the boundry between the School and the Church yard. If you look closely at the wall while walking around it, you can see the evidence of a lot of dressed and strange shaped blocks of stone, which were part of the original Abbey building.
This view also shows the Church grave yard, looking very light in between the green of the trees. The Church tower you can see in the foreground was built in 1672, using Abbey stone.
This shows the Abbey House, which is now used as a School, with all the modern buildings that belong to the same School in the foreground.
