The Abbey Gateway shown, spanned the present road of Hollow Lane. It was removed from Ramsey by Henry Cromwell and re-erected at Hinchingbrooke House, to provide a more imposing entrance to the magnificent House

This is the earliest picture of the Ramsey Abbey Gatehouse, which had been removed from the Abbey and re-built at Hinchingbrooke House to provide a more imposing entrance. It only shows one small arched gate and the larger gate, at some point in time, the second small arched doorway was added. The upper rooms and roof were taken down and the now familiar castellated look was added.
